Tour de France
The Tour de France 2022 is the current and the 109th edition of the race. It began on July 1 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and will conclude on July 24 with the final stage at the Champs-Élysées in Paris. The event will be followed by the inaugural Tour de France Femmes, which will have its first stage on the Tour’s final day.
The Tour de France has evolved throughout time, but it has always been a race of survival and attrition from its start in 1903. That may be more true than ever after a peloton of 176 riders has traveled 2,081 kilometers around Western Europe.
The Alps and Pyrenees receive all the attention in the Tour de France, but don’t overlook the Vosges—site of yesterday’s spectacular first summit finish—and the Massif Central, which the race will reach in about a week. The Jura, a minor limestone range that stretches between France and Switzerland, is the focus of Stage 8.
Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens will be World Rugby’s eighth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens. It will take place between September 9 and 11, 2022, at the Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. It will be Africa’s first Rugby World Cup Sevens.
FIFA Men’s World Cup
The 22nd FIFA World Cup is expected to begin on November 21, with Senegal taking on the Netherlands at Doha’s Al Thumama Stadium. Costa Rica qualified for the FIFA Men’s World Cup 2022 after defeating New Zealand 1-0 in the qualification and booked their trip to Qatar this winter. The tournament’s 22nd edition will also be the last to include 32 teams, with the next edition in 2026 being confirmed as a 48-nation competition.
The 64-match competition will be held at eight different sites in Qatar. The tournament will begin in Al Bayt Stadium, with the final taking place on December 18 at Lusail Stadium, the largest of the eight sites. On Monday, November 21, Senegal and the Netherlands will kick off the 2022 World Cup in Group A. On the first day, England will face Iran in Group B, while hosts Qatar will face Ecuador in Group A.
ICC World T20
The countdown to ‘The Big Time’ has begun, with Melbourne’s famed Yarra River serving as the background for a city center cricketing stadium built to commemorate 100 days till Australia hosts the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup for the first time.
The hallowed turf of Melbourne Cricket Ground takes center stage, with the field transported into the heart of Melbourne to commemorate 100 days before the world’s greatest cricketers from 16 teams fight for the ultimate prize in T20 cricket.
